So it comes down to the wire and......the winner is.....both?
Yup turns out after playing magic for the better part of 10 hours that day, and it hitting 1 AM, makes people sometime draw. Today we are going to be focusing on my deck for the draft that I built and why I built it.
The first card drafted by me. It was a good pack, and I wanted some other cards in it. But something was telling me that I didn't want to pick my colors yet. So the next pack I picked it up and got....
OOO baby! Guess I'm playing artifacts, or at least some kind of artifact fun.
So now to focus on the deck itself. I built a nice Izzet control build that in certain instances can morph into an aggro strategy. So lets talk about the creature base.
We got two Gods here. These two work so well together it hurts. Wanna draw a second card this turn, scry with Thassa and keep the land. Want to burn them good, put it on the bottom. Done and done.
My 1 drop creatures were powerful, but situational. Both are amazing strong early game, but late game they might as well not even exist. But both can still be strong contenders.
My two drops are great. One can sack to Tinker if i don't need it, but can turn off a lot of different cards in the cube. Stratus Dancer is just, in my opinion, one of the most versatile creatures ever printed. He slices(in the air), he dices(up instants and sorceries), and is just all around a pain in the butt to deal with.
The Myr is like the revoker. Great when I need it, a sacable thing when i don't. Rabblemaster changes the board when he gets played. Everything revolves around getting him off the field or else he is going to just take over the game. Mulldrifter......well what can I say about this little guy that hasn't already been said. He is amazing, end of story. Redcap is a burn spell on a stick, that flashes back for slightly less damage. Hell this guy is all power, no drawback.
Besides my Soul, my two bombs. Not much to say about these guys, except turn 4 storm breath is truly something that will wreck a lot of peoples days.
I'm going to follow up my creature base with my Planeswalkers.
Both these bad boys put in so much work. Control plus Aggro working side by side, and they did that a whole lot.
My artifact package, showed a nice utility and range. Each could help tutor for another, but each had a use all their own in the deck. The sword/collar combo saved me more times to count.
Burn, baby Burn. Whats better than to share the loving between all the creatures and players. These 3 cards do just that. 2 for one, hopefully at the worst, every opponent.
My favorite bounce spell, and an awesome card draw? Can't go wrong here.
And finally counter magic, because what control shell would be complete without some of that.
With that it ends the deck-tech that Put me 3-0 before the final rematch. We will be back next week to discuss Newton's Deck and his thoughts on the cube in general.
